Seeing an antique piano sitting on a wooden platform on the frozen lake is a little unusual.
It’s even more unusual to hear music coming from the instrument when nobody is around it to make it.
Gordon Monahan’s exhibit titled A piano listening to itself is one of the many Ice Follies projects featured this year on Lake Nipissing.
Until mid-March the public is invited to enjoy the art pieces that are featured adjacent to the old Chief Commanda off Memorial Drive.
Monahan’s piece was one of the more popular attractions Saturday during the official launch of the exhibits.
He attached six wires through the piano’s sound board and extended them across the lake about 220 feet.
